Managing Director – Manufacturing / Food Production (Caribbean)

About the role

GATESOURCE HR is recruiting an experienced, commercially driven Managing Director to lead and oversee the strategic, operational and financial performance of a growing business unit in the manufacturing and food production sector. The role covers sustainable growth, profitability, operational excellence and compliance with regulations and industry standards, and calls for strong strategic thinking, people leadership and the ability to build relationships with customers, suppliers and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the business unit's strategic plan, define objectives and set up governance, administrative and operational policies.
• Lead the business unit, design organisational structures and work processes, monitor performance, manage risks and ensure staffing and succession planning.
• Own the budget and financial performance, monitor profitability and cost control, and drive productivity improvements.
• Lead, coach and develop management and operational teams, run performance management and foster accountability and engagement.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, quality and regulatory requirements, maintain quality assurance systems, support audit readiness and exercise authority to halt operations when significant risks arise.
• Build relationships with customers, suppliers and stakeholders, act as the main representative of the unit and strengthen market presence.
• Report regularly to senior leadership and shareholders on performance, financials and compliance, and mitigate business risks.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, Operations or a related field; additional executive leadership qualifications are advantageous.
• Minimum 5 years of senior leadership experience with full responsibility for a business unit, division or company.
• Proven track record in strategic planning, operational management and financial leadership.
• Experience in manufacturing, food production, FMCG, industrial or related sectors is preferred.
• Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams and driving business growth.
