Head of HSSEQ

About the role

The Head of HSSEQ will shape and strengthen the health, safety, security, environmental and quality culture across Damen Shiprepair Curaçao. You will embed HSSEQ principles in all operations, empower teams and lead continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement an integrated HSSEQ strategy, policies, objectives and annual plans aligned with corporate goals, local legislation and international standards.
• Maintain ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems, lead internal and external audits and ensure continued certification.
• Ensure compliance with classification society requirements and ISPS Code, and advise senior management on HSSEQ risks.
• Act as the primary contact for HSSEQ matters with local authorities, regulatory bodies and crisis management teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Marine Engineering, Quality Management, Safety and Security Management or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in quality management, HSSE or integrated management systems, preferably with managerial responsibility.
• Experience in the ship‑repair or maritime industry is a benefit.

Required skills

• Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
• Familiarity with the ISPS Code and port security regulations.
• Understanding of classification society requirements (DNV, Lloyd’s, ABS, etc.).
• Knowledge of local HSSE legislation and environmental regulations.
